Its amazing how my daughter has grown into a young lady she has learned a lot from Barbizon. Thank You Barbizon, Miss Deborah and Staff.

My daughter had been involved with competition dance, modeling, and photogenic contests prior to entering Barbizon, but never won in any category of modeling. She began Barbizon in March of 2016 and began to learn various modeling techniques such as walking, posture, poise, as well as many other things. My daughter then went to competition in July and won first place in evening wear, second place in swimwear, and third place in sportswear. Everyone was so impressed with her Improvement and it was all due to Barbizon.

I really loved Barbizon modeling and acting in Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania because it taught me so many things; it has helped me so much.  Also, even after I graduated, I still get booked for events. One thing I’ve learned from Barbizon would be having self-confidence. I would always be that shy girl that wouldn’t talk to anybody and now I’m out here getting booked for fashion shows which it takes a lot of courage to stand in front of many people but Barbizon help me get out of my comfort zone. Also having to interact with people at fashion shows was something I would get nervous about but now I love talking to people and interacting with them it also has taught me to value myself because you need to love yourself in order for other people to love you. Barbizon doesn’t only give you that it gives you friendships that can last a lifetime; you meet so many great people. The way I made it into Barbizon was Ms. Deborah had gone to Dunmore high school I met her there she told me all about the Barbizon, I was like this would be a great opportunity I didn’t make it in the first year the next year I went online submitted my information in that very moment I got a callback for an audition I was so happy it was like faith. The Barbizon modeling and acting in Wilkes Barre has been the best decision I’ve ever made I will never regretted it has given me so much I really thank Ms. Deborah so much. – Lesley Rocha (Scranton, PA)

I am a parent of a student that graduated in June 2016 and then attended the IMTA convention in July 2016. Watching my daughter walk thru this whole experience from beginning to her new beginning has made me such a proud mom. She learned and developed from a girl to a self confident, ready to take on the world young lady. I do believe after going through this process she has the self esteem to pursue her goals in life and will have a very successful career in whatever path she chooses.

I went to my audition where I met Deboraha who is in charge of the building and Amanda who is my instructor. I walked for them after they taught me the basics first and i also did a commercial. Before i knew it i got a call say that I was enrolled into Barbizon Modeling and Acting School. They both are very nice to me and taught me a lot about the entertainment industry. Deboraha has let me be in a Macy’s red carpet fashion show which I’m so excited for. Amanda encourages everyone to practice what we learned in class like runway and our commercials, and she teaches as valuable lessons in class. Amanda gives her advice because she once was a model she made mistakes and did some things right.
I have learned how to be confident in my own skin, also how to take care of my health. I have made many friends that are also enrolled with me. Amanda taught me how to enhance my natural features with makeup and how to dress for my body shape. There has been many improvements with not only myself but with everyone in my class. The school definitely helped me with confidence and character. I came in quiet and shy, now i will walk out confident and classy.
Although I have many other entrusts and responsibilities, I always want to model. Even if I did want to model or be an actress, I would still want to be enrolled into Barbizon because of who I am now. This company can help anyone be more successful in life.

My name is Lindsay Folmar and I am from a very small town in Pennsylvania called Antes Fort. The closest big town to me is Williamsport, Pennsylvania and that is still 30 minutes away from my house. When I was a senior in high school getting my senior portraits taken the photographer had made a comment about helping him model some clothing for a local catalog he was working with. After that I started thinking about what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. At the moment, my plan was go to college as a pre-med student and hopefully become a cardiovascular surgeon. Then I started thinking, what if I did modeling? More importantly how do you even start modeling when your from a little town no one’s heard of? That was when I went on an online search for a modeling/acting school and I came across the website for Barbizon in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. I read their information and was immediately in love with the school and what it had to offer. So I decided right then to turn an application in. Honestly, I didn’t expect anything to happen because it was the first school I looked at, well about 2 weeks later I got a call from Barbizon and they were asking me to come to audition. I WAS ABSOLUTELY THRILLED! When I came in for my audition I was a ball of nerves but I did what they asked me to do and I felt that I did it to the best of my ability. Apparently they agreed because I got a call shortly after with the confirmation that I was enrolled!
I drove 2 hours every Saturday we had class and the teachers at Barbizon are absolutely fantastic and they taught me everything I know about the industry. They taught me everything from proper interviewing techniques to how to do the perfect three step smokey eye. Barbizon is a school for acting/modeling/ and personal development. This is important because it means they aren’t just teaching you how to model or how to act, they also teach you life skills that you will use all the time to book a job, and not even a modeling job you can use these skills for anything. When attending Barbizon school I was aware that the end goal is to go to the International Modeling and Talent Agency (IMTA). I had the intention of going as soon as I started at Barbizon, I knew it was a once in a lifetime opportunity that I could just not pass up. When classes for IMTA began I was 18 years old by the time we went to the New York IMTA in July 2016 I was 19. My group of 7 girls who were all going to IMTA had a fantastic acting coach David McKeown who taught me everything I know about acting and two wonderful runway coaches. IMTA is very expensive, but it is completely worth it I have zero regrets. I had to save up so much money, my mom and I threw fundraisers and I paid for it myself by working extra hours at the hospital. Paying for it myself made me feel even more independent and it also made me realize how hard I had to work if I really wanted something.
After competing in IMTA and staying in New York City for a week it was time for awards night. It was such a nerve racking experience to have all that hard work, time, and energy finally come to an end with the fear that maybe it’s not going to pay off. Total after a week of working my buttons off, I won honorable mentions (top ten out of 250) in four of my acting competitions. I also won 1st runner up out of 250 in both my monolog up and improvisation competition. Then for Female Young Adult Actress of the Year I won 4th runner up out of 250. Finally out of the 2000 people attending IMTA, 5, $20000 scholarships were awarded from the New York Conservatory, and I was the 3rd called up.
I am extremely proud and thankful for my accomplishments and for the people who got me there. It was amazing that all my hard work paid off so well. After IMTA, I moved to Manhattan, New York and am currently attending my first year at the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts.

First time I heard about Barbizon was during school, a group of my friends were talking about how great it was and I just knew I had to find out more about it. My friends and I decided to go look for the Barbizon representative and after hearing what she had to say I decided I wanted to join the school so I applied for it. The next day my mom got a call that I had an audition, boy was I nervous. On the day of the audition I was feeling a lot of emotion, excitement and anxiety were the two main ones. Walking inside the Barbizon building in Wilkes-Barre I felt a huge wave of calmness as I saw all the smiling faces and how nice everybody was. I felt so calm that i went in that audition and just owned it like a true professional, getting accepted into the school as a result of that.
There’s so many things you can learn at Barbizon, they teach you how to do your hair, nails, how to apply your make up and etc. Barbizon is the best experience I ever had. The best part about Barbizon is that I had missed a lot of classes because I had a family emergency and when I got back to Barbizon they gave me the opportunity to catch up on my classes at no extra cost, which was beneficial to me especially being raised by a single mother. There were so many things for me to do at Barbizon, I got to be a part of the planning of a fashion show, made new friends and through it all I felt like a better version of myself.
I can’t wait until I graduate from Barbizon of Wilkes-Barre because when someone graduate from this Barbizon of Wilkes-Barre they can come back at any time and any age and can take over the entire program free of charge. THAT’S AMAZING… college doesn’t even do that.

Barbizon’s School of Modeling, Acting, and Professional Development has been a huge asset to my life this past year. Upon meeting Miss Deboraha and Miss Amanda I was blown off my feet with the experience, knowledge, and passion they have for Barbizon as a whole. I knew instantly that I would benefit immensely from a school like this, so I signed up and could not wait for my first class. I remember running into Miss Deboraha half way through my 2nd class and saying these exact words to her, “I am so happy here I could cry!” Having Miss Amanda as my teacher was a huge blessing. She is such a beautiful lady inside and out, who has truly WALKED the walk in the Modeling Industry. Her teaching, knowledge, and insight have touched me in many ways.
Throughout my classes at Barbizon I gained even more confidence than I previously had. Having a class with such friendly girls of all ages made it such a fun- learning environment where we all felt COMFORTABLE to grow and make mistakes. During our classes we spent time practicing modeling poses, walking the runway, performing skits, rehearsing commercial scripts, and so much more!
One thing I really took away from my Barbizon experience was the time spent discussing “interviews.” Having practiced rehearsing an “elevator speech” in front of my classmates and hearing their thoughts and suggestions on how I preformed was really effective. It gave me a better idea of my strengths and weaknesses. We learned tips on how to speak, what to bring, how to dress, etc. We thoroughly discussed the differences between “Call Backs” and “Go Sees”. With this being said, on August 1st I had an interview for a teaching job in the school district I live in. Having taken everything I learned at Barbizon into consideration my interview went amazing and I got the teaching job (an elementary teacher position). Along with my teaching job, Barbizon also opened me up to a few other amazing opportunities. In June I was hired as a Spokes Model for a huge company in Old Forge. In August I was hired as a Model for a “Back to School Pep Rally” for children in Scranton. In the upcoming days I will be getting involved with volunteer work as a model for a local fair. I will also have the opportunity through Barbizon to be in the Macy’s Fashion Show. These experiences have been life changing and I can’t wait to see what else is to come!
With this being said, I would recommend Barbizon in Wilkes- Barre, PA to anyone and everyone! It is such an AMAZING experience and the skills learned are PRICELESS! 🙂

I’m so glad that I got a chance to be with Barbizon because I had such a wonderful experience! I got a chance to meet a marvelous lady called Miss. Debbie and she has helped me on everything through thick and thin! She found me at my school when her and her team came looking for girls to be apart of the Barbizon school of modeling! I finally got a chance to go to the interview and I got accepted and I was so happy! Next I took the classes and they just taught me so much that I’m so glad I know what I do. I learned everything from being self-confident, correctly applying makeup, and learning to use manners properly. I’m just so glad I got to meet Miss Debbie when I did. She’s such a empowering women that will make sure you are on top of things. Then I was opened to this place called IMTA and it stands for International Modeling and Talent Association. It’s where you go for acting modeling or both and you talk or walk in front of agents that judge you to see how well you did on that specific thing. I did acting and modeling and I won in the acting categories! For acting I won an award for the “on camera host” out of hundreds of girls, I was very proud of myself. I still help out Miss. Debbie to this day and am there whenever she needs me and she knows it! I’m glad that I got to spend as much time as I did with her, it helped me out a lot. I’m happy that I got super close to her, and if I had a chance to replay my life anywhere in time I would replay it to back to IMTA!!
